A Channels camera has guide entries: inspect placeholder metadata

Distinguish generated custom-channel guide blocks from programme data supplied by an actual broadcaster.

A player organises the experience

Identify the guide’s origin

For a personal camera source, record whether actual programme data exists at all. A continuously operating camera may have no editorial programme schedule. A neat guide grid can still be useful for navigation or recording blocks, but it needs an honest interpretation.

Inspect the documented placeholder route

Channels Custom Channels supports fallback metadata and automatic placeholder airings when source guide data is absent. Check which fields were configured for the camera. Keep a static camera description distinct from a real programme title or a claim that recorded footage is available.

Use an original label such as workshop camera in the setup note. Avoid attaching a commercial broadcaster’s identity or event title merely to fill an empty grid. Metadata should describe the source the household is actually permitted to view.

Check any recording requirement separately

If the purpose is to record a permitted interval, inspect the configured recording action and resulting file. A generated guide block alone proves neither capture completion nor retained footage. Check the actual storage and playback result before telling another viewer that an archive exists.

No guide or recording was generated here. This is a narrow interpretation aid for a documented custom-source feature.

Questions answered

Are placeholder airings necessarily a broadcaster schedule?

No. Channels can generate them when guide data is absent.

Do they prove recorded footage exists?

No. Verify recording and retention through actual saved media.
