Identify where membership comes from
Choose a virtual channel with a short, recognizable programme. Record whether its items were selected directly or supplied through a Library Collection. Two programme lists can look similar while taking their order from different places.
Check the source collection
Channels documents a virtual channel adopting the items and specified order of collections applied to it. If that is your route, inspect the collection first. Write the intended order of three known items and compare it with the actual source list.
Keep membership stable during the comparison. Removing and re-adding titles while also changing sorting can obscure whether the guide reflects a corrected order or a different programme. Where the channel has its own ordering choice, record that choice with the collection dependency.
Inspect the viewer’s sequence
After the deliberate change, inspect the intended client’s guide and one relevant boundary. A changed collection editor is not a recorded observation of the viewing surface. Keep any unchanged or unexpected result with the channel name, source collection and installed server version.
No virtual programme was generated or played here. The narrow goal is an understood source of ordering, not a guarantee of immediate updates or a fixed schedule across every client.
Questions answered
Can the source collection influence the virtual channel order?
Yes. Channels documents adopting the applied collection’s items and order.
Should I change several order controls at once?
No. Keep the dependency and one comparison clear.
