Read the marker before changing the file
The official iOS help says grey text identifies a downloaded item with an expired licence, while a red dot identifies an unwatched file. These signals answer different questions. A red marker does not mean the episode needs a licence repair, and grey text does not by itself prove the video file has disappeared.
Open the Downloads area and identify the episode by its title and number. Compare the actual text colour and marker with the documented meanings before deleting anything. That small reading step can prevent a useful local copy from being removed simply because its status was misunderstood.
Use the documented licence action
The help describes choosing Edit, selecting the affected files, then Licence Reacquisition and the confirmation for the selected episodes. It allows up to 30 files in one update. Use the app’s current wording for the equivalent action and maintain the account and connection required by that flow.
Select the episodes you actually plan to watch. A focused batch is easier to verify than renewing a large list without checking the result. After the action completes, inspect whether the relevant entries have changed status before beginning your offline plan.
Keep viewing progress separate
An unwatched marker is about viewing history, so evaluate it separately from entitlement. If you have already watched an episode on another occasion, compare the title and account before assuming that the local marker proves a licence failure.
For a serial, make a short note of the last episode you personally completed. That note is your own record; it does not claim that the app synchronises every marker in a particular way. Use it to avoid replaying or skipping an episode while resolving the download status.
If the status does not update
Record the episode, device, app version and exact message after the documented action. Explain that the local file is listed but its licence status remains expired. That is more precise than saying the download is missing and helps support address the appropriate stage.
