Identify a browsing change rather than a missing file
Infuse Smart Folders can present a folder as a playable movie item. This is useful when each film occupies its own directory with a video, artwork, metadata and subtitles. It can also surprise someone who expects to open the folder and inspect its contents. Start by identifying whether the confusion occurs while directly browsing a share or while viewing the library.
Firecore says Smart Folders affect direct folder browsing, not the library’s normal content view. If a title is absent from a library category, changing this setting alone is not a complete explanation. Compare one known folder through the share browser and note what appears: a folder icon, a movie poster or the files inside. That observation determines whether this guide applies.
Choose the presentation for the task
Enabled Smart Folders reduce the clicks between a movie directory and playback and can recognize disc-style folder structures. Disabled Smart Folders preserve the visible directory hierarchy. Neither presentation creates a new media file or repairs damaged content. Choose the view that makes your immediate task easier to inspect.
For routine viewing of neatly organized movie folders, a flattened movie item may be convenient. For investigating which subtitle or alternate video file is present, direct access to the actual hierarchy can be more informative. Use a small representative directory for the comparison, not a large library-wide rearrangement. Keep the source files and naming unchanged while assessing presentation.
Check the result at the same location
A successful comparison should expose the expected hierarchy or present the folder as a playable item according to your choice. Confirm the same video still opens, then inspect any sidecar files through the appropriate browsing route. The presence of those files does not by itself prove that every metadata or subtitle convention is recognized.
If opening a very large directory remains slow, record the number and organization of entries and the source connection rather than promising that one view will always be faster. Firecore describes a browsing tradeoff, not a universal performance guarantee. Preserve the resulting share configuration so later troubleshooting does not confuse a presentation change with a storage change.
Questions answered
Does Smart Folders change Infuse’s library categories?
Firecore says the setting applies to direct folder browsing. Diagnose a missing library title separately from the share’s folder presentation.
Should I rename or delete the source movie to disable the feature?
No. The documented choice belongs to the Infuse share configuration. Preserve the media and record the share before recreating its entry if required.
