Choose the history record you intend to update
Infuse can connect playback activity to a Trakt profile, but a Trakt connection is not a media source. It does not supply a missing film, unlock a server account or make a video address playable. Start this task with an item that already opens successfully and with a clear decision about which watched-history record you want to inspect.
Write down whether the video comes from a direct file share or from a media-server connection. That difference matters because Firecore documents distinct behavior for Emby, Jellyfin and Plex connections. Also confirm the Trakt profile privately; testing against a different profile can look like failed synchronization even when activity has been sent correctly.
Check the connection and direction before testing
Firecore’s documented prerequisites include signing in to Trakt within Infuse and enabling scrobbling. Its support page distinguishes the free application’s outgoing history from Pro’s two-way synchronization. Use the app’s current settings and displayed entitlement rather than assuming every installation imports changes made on the Trakt website.
For a controlled outgoing test, use one item with an obvious title and observe its status in Infuse before playback. After a normal viewing or watched-status action, inspect the same item on the intended Trakt profile. Retain the direction of the test in your notes. An outgoing update and an incoming website change answer different questions.
Treat a media server as a separate source of progress
When Infuse is connected to Emby, Jellyfin or Plex, Firecore says it can send watched history to Trakt but relies on the media server for incoming watched history and playback progress. A change made only on Trakt should therefore not automatically be expected to overwrite the server’s record through Infuse.
If the server library has the wrong progress, inspect the correct server user and item there first. Two users can legitimately have different viewing states for the same file. Keep the same server user throughout the comparison and avoid repeatedly marking a whole season watched as a diagnostic shortcut. That creates a large change without isolating the direction that failed.
Keep synchronization systems distinguishable
Trakt synchronization can operate independently of iCloud synchronization. If favorites travel through iCloud while watched history does not match a Trakt profile, that result does not establish a contradiction. Identify the account, data type and direction at each layer instead of treating every library detail as one shared cloud record.
A useful support description says where playback began, which account owned the source, whether the expected update was outgoing or incoming, and which item differed. Exclude passwords, authorization codes and complete private server addresses. The outcome should be an understood history route that you can repeat with one item before making broader library changes.
Questions answered
Will Trakt provide the actual video?
No. Trakt integration concerns history, progress and ratings. The video still comes from the file share or media server you have configured.
Why does a Trakt change not replace my Jellyfin progress?
Firecore documents that Infuse uses the connected media server’s history for that route. Diagnose the server user’s progress separately from outgoing Trakt scrobbles.
