Do not search the web for a generic activation service and then type credentials into the first result. After pairing, confirm that the television has moved beyond the sign-in prompt. Then choose a programme and record whether its page opens and playback starts. An error at this later stage should retain its actual code, programme and device details. It is no longer simply a pairing failure.
