Choose the viewing purpose first

That decision matters for a documentary whose argument develops over time. Resuming halfway through may suit you but leave a new viewer without the setup. Starting over may be deliberate rather than evidence that progress was lost.
Inspect the unfinished title
Select the exact film in Continue Watching and compare its title with your notes. If several films have similar subjects, check the synopsis and running time. A saved watchlist item and an unfinished film are different records even when both appear on a home screen.

Keep a note when the stopping point matters
For a discussion or research evening, record the approximate time and the question you were considering. The note gives you context even if you deliberately restart later. It is your own record, not a claim that the service stores your reasoning or annotations.
If the resumed position seems wrong, compare the signed-in account and film before changing anything else. Record where you expected to return and where playback actually began. Avoid pressing reset as a diagnostic step when your goal is preserving the current position.
Report progress and entitlement separately
A film that will not open is a different issue from one opening at the wrong time. If support is needed, state which occurred and include the title, device and account route. An expired offer or local restriction cannot be resolved merely by choosing a different resume control.
