Compare two tracks at the split
If one release appears as separate albums, select a track from each group and inspect the embedded album information. Jellyfin's music organisation uses more than the visible directory name. Renaming the folder repeatedly can leave the conflicting inputs untouched.
Make the smallest identity correction
Record album title, album artist and relevant release information before changing either file. Decide which grouping is intentional. For a self-produced compilation, individual performers may differ while the album identity is shared; preserving credits and correcting the common identity are compatible goals.
Work on a sample copy and keep the original tags. If you discover that the files are actually two distinct releases, a separate album can be the correct outcome. The task is to match your intended catalogue, not to force all similarly titled tracks together.
Review the result before expanding
After the appropriate scan or refresh, check membership and track count first. Review ordering afterward so a disc-number issue is not mistaken for an album split. Keep the successful tag convention in the library notes before applying it to more files.
Questions answered
Can a correct folder name outweigh every embedded tag?
Do not assume it. Inspect the fields that describe album identity in the actual files.
Should all track artists be identical on a compilation?
Not necessarily. Preserve accurate performer credits while reviewing the shared album identity.
