Record the real power-order symptom
If a LibreELEC computer behaves differently when the television or receiver is powered on first, record that exact sequence. Use the same HDMI chain, inputs and media sample. A black screen at boot and a video-only playback failure are different cases, even if both are described as display trouble.
Preserve a working output arrangement and the current configuration before considering a persistent EDID change. The task concerns display-capability information and boot behavior; it is not a way to add unsupported formats to a television or improve the source recording.
Read the hardware-specific helper limits
LibreELEC’s EDID guide documents a getedid helper for a particular Generic x86_64 Intel or NVIDIA route and distinguishes unsupported helper cases. Check the actual GPU and installed release against that documentation. Do not treat the helper as a universal command for every board or AMD system.
Use authorized administration access and inspect the helper’s available options before modification. Keep its reported GPU result in the notes. A manual procedure for a different driver stack can change different files, so preserve the current route rather than combining examples from several hardware sections.
Capture only from a working connected chain
The guide requires the connected devices on with functioning picture and sound before capture. Establish that baseline first. A capture made while the intended receiver is absent can describe a different capability path from the one you later expect the system to use.
Check for existing custom display changes before using an automated creation route. The developer describes safeguards for modified configurations; do not remove them merely to force a command to continue. Keep the original files and a known recovery input before a change that can affect boot display behavior.
Verify the intended sequence after the change
If the documented creation route is appropriate and deliberately applied, repeat the original power-order case and inspect picture and audio. Compare the exact sequence that failed earlier. Do not infer success solely from one normal boot with every device already on.
Retain the capture source, hardware, configuration backup and result. If the HDMI chain changes later, reassess the saved capability information. The expected outcome is a justified device-specific EDID arrangement, not a promise of universal headless operation or a claim that an untested display mode is safe.
Questions answered
Why must the intended television and receiver be working before capture?
The capture should represent the actual capability chain you want to preserve. An absent or nonworking component can yield the wrong baseline.
Is getedid a universal helper for every LibreELEC device?
No. Follow the hardware-specific support described by the current guide and inspect the actual GPU route.
