Management is part of the documented scope
Apple’s settings guide notes that AirPlay Receiver may be unavailable on a Mac enrolled in mobile device management. It also requires supported Mac hardware and macOS. A missing toggle should therefore be assessed against both capability and management context.
A Mac sending its screen elsewhere does not prove it can act as an enabled receiver. Those are different roles.
Check the supported setting first
Follow the installed macOS guide for General, AirDrop and Continuity or its older equivalent. Verify the actual Mac model and OS against Apple’s current receiver requirements. Do not assume every older Mac shares the same feature.
On a managed work or school device, use the organization’s authorized support route to ask about receiver availability. Do not attempt to remove management or bypass a policy to make the menu appear.
Keep the viewing question separate
If the receiver feature is unavailable, changing a programme account or reinstalling a media app does not establish that it can be enabled. Consider another supported authorized display arrangement for the task.
A clear report states the Mac model, OS, management status and whether the receiver control is absent or merely restricted. This page explains Apple’s documented limitation without asserting that a particular organization blocks it.
Questions answered
Can MDM affect AirPlay Receiver availability?
Apple explicitly notes that it may.
Does the ability to send AirPlay guarantee receiving?
No. Receiving is a separate supported feature and setting.
