On Marquee TV for Roku, enable captions and select the track separately

Use the Roku-specific controls instead of looking for the web player’s CC button.

Identify the performance and player route

Before changing caption settings, confirm the exact Marquee TV performance or edition being played and that the active route is its Roku app. A web browser’s controls and a Roku remote do not expose the same interface. Marquee publishes separate instructions for Roku, web and mobile, so a screenshot from one should not be treated as a universal control map. Keep the viewing need explicit: enabling text and choosing a particular available language are related but separate actions. A translated programme description does not establish which tracks accompany the selected performance.

Enable the Roku caption setting

Marquee’s current Roku help describes using Up or the Star key to reach the relevant menu and Settings, with closed captions enabled. It also describes the playback Star menu and On Always or Off setting. Follow the actual current prompt rather than assuming the app must show the web player’s lower-right CC icon. In an original preparation example, a household can enable captions before the performance begins, then inspect a passage containing speech. An orchestral opening with no caption text is not a complete test that spoken sections will display as intended.

Choose among the available captioning tracks

For language selection, the Roku instructions direct viewers through the playback Star menu to Accessibility, then Captioning Track, with left or right used to choose a language. Read the options actually offered. Switching captions on does not guarantee that the preferred language exists for every edition. Conversely, selecting a track while captions are off may not produce the expected visible text. Keep the two results separate and check the same short passage after each change. Do not interpret every missing-language choice as a failed subscription or assume a device setting can create a translation not supplied with the programme.

Use the web or mobile route as a controlled comparison

Marquee’s web guide uses the CC control, while its mobile guide directs viewers to reveal the player controls and use the settings gear. If checking another supported route, keep the performance edition and account context the same and record the available track. A difference can be useful evidence, but it is not a reason to promise that every screen behaves identically. If support is needed, provide the performance, desired language, Roku context and whether captions are enabled. This gives a specific media-control question without sending private account information or buying another product to replace an unverified setting.

Questions answered

Is the Marquee web CC icon the exact Roku control path?

No. Marquee publishes Roku-specific Up or Star menu instructions.

Does turning captions on choose every desired translation automatically?

No. Select the actual available Captioning Track and verify the chosen performance’s text.
