OTT Navigator retries and source switching: preserve the first failure

Review retry and folded-source behavior before interpreting a recovered channel as evidence that the original source worked.

Find the exact error text

Record the first visible error and source

A player can recover automatically while hiding the path that originally failed. If OTT Navigator retries or changes source, keep the first error and the source identity privately before pressing more controls. A later successful picture does not necessarily establish that the original endpoint recovered.

Choose one affected channel and note whether the problem occurs at initial opening or after sustained playback. Avoid repeatedly switching channels while collecting evidence. Each action can open another request and make the sequence harder to interpret, particularly when the same channel is available through several providers.

Inspect the configured retry behavior

The developer documents Times to retry loading the video when error occurred under Player and Network. Its choices include finite retries and other automatic behaviors. Read the current selection and record it before making a change. A setting that waits for a manual choice is a different diagnostic experience from endless retries.

For an original comparison, preserve the ordinary configuration and test a short reproduction with the relevant retry behavior understood. Record how many attempts are visible and when the message appears. Do not infer a source outage duration from an interval that also includes configured waiting or retry behavior.

Check whether another source is being used

OTT Navigator documents automatic source switching for folded duplicate channels. It also offers a setting to retain the chosen source on error. Inspect the actual channel/source arrangement before concluding that a working duplicate proves the failed provider is healthy.

Keep source selection deliberate and within authorized access. If one source works while another fails for the same channel, retain that comparison without exposing private URLs. The media could differ in format or availability, so do not generalize beyond the observed channel and time. A successful fallback is useful functionality, but it is different evidence from a repaired original request.

Return to the intended everyday behavior

After the diagnostic comparison, choose the retry and fallback behavior you want for ordinary viewing. Verify that the retained settings match that intention and that a channel failure does not silently move to an unexpected programme. Keep any quick-switch exclusion behavior in mind when a recently failed channel seems skipped.

The expected outcome is understandable error handling and a reproducible report of the first failed stage. It does not repair source authorization, guarantee alternate-source availability or justify raising connection limits. Preserve the original error text for the provider or developer support route when further investigation is needed.

Questions answered

Does successful fallback prove the original source recovered?

No. Check which source actually supplied the successful playback. A duplicate source may have been selected.

Why retain the first error before retrying repeatedly?

It identifies the initial failure stage. Later retries, delays and source changes can obscure the sequence that support needs to investigate.
