Two numbers answer different questions
Pathé’s device-management help, updated 4 August 2025, allows up to five registered terminals. It separately limits simultaneous viewing to two terminals for purchased programmes and excludes rentals from that simultaneous-viewing provision. Device registration and a permission to watch concurrently are therefore different checks.
For example, a household might want a television registered for evenings and a phone for another occasion. Registering both does not itself establish that two people can play a rented film at once. Read the transaction type before building that plan around an account device count.
Inspect the account’s actual list
The documented route is account settings, devices, then manage devices. Review the list against the equipment you recognise. Before changing it, identify which screen you intend to use next and whether the programme was rented or bought.
Keep the task narrow. If the intended television is already listed, the next question may concern the programme’s offer rather than adding another device. If a screen is missing, work through the account’s current controls rather than assuming that a second login will solve every access message.
Coordinate the evening before playback
Decide whether two viewers need separate simultaneous sessions or can share one screen. If separate sessions are essential, verify that the selected transaction permits the arrangement. Do not substitute the broad five-device headline for this decision.
If a message blocks a second session, record the film, transaction type, device and exact wording. That is useful evidence for support. This article does not establish an extra rental allowance or a method for expanding the published limits.
Questions answered
Does five registered devices mean five simultaneous streams?
No. The help describes separate registration and simultaneous-viewing rules.
Does the documented two-device provision include rentals?
Pathé explicitly excludes rented programmes from that provision.
