Use the documented device-selection route
Apple describes connecting the device, choosing File, New Movie Recording and selecting the connected iPhone or iPad in the capture-device menu’s camera choice. The microphone and other offered outputs are separate choices. Inspect the live preview before pressing Record.
Confirm that the preview shows the intended device screen and not the Mac’s camera. If the device is absent, resolve the actual connection and access state through the supported system route before changing recording quality. A missing input and a large output file are different issues.
Record a short complete sample
Choose an appropriate offered quality and a microphone for the intended demonstration. Keep storage availability in mind; Apple’s guide identifies greater storage requirements for maximum-quality recording. Do not assume one platform’s quality label describes the same codec as another capture source.
Start recording, perform the short demonstration and stop through the normal control. Save the result with a new recognizable name and destination. A moving preview and a completed saved recording are separate milestones.
Play back picture and sound independently
Open the saved sample and confirm the intended screen sequence, legible text and required audio. A correct picture does not prove the selected microphone recorded the sound you wanted. Inspect the beginning and ending so the useful action was captured fully.
Only after that sample fits the task should a longer demonstration begin. The expected outcome is a checked capture from the actual connected device. It does not guarantee every protected application can be recorded, create a wireless receiver or claim hands-on testing of your Mac and phone.
Questions answered
Why verify the preview before recording?
It confirms the actual selected source. A movie-recording window can point to the Mac’s camera instead of the intended connected device.
Does a correct screen image prove the audio is correct?
No. Microphone and other capture choices need a separate listen-back check on the saved sample.
