Accessible player operation

Check the media interface with your reduced-motion preference

Separate decorative player-interface movement from the programme itself and identify a usable way to browse and operate controls.

Name the movement that interferes with the task

A media interface can animate recommendation panels, hover previews or transitions separately from the programme being watched. A reduced-motion preference gives supporting websites information about a user's desire to minimise nonessential motion. It does not automatically pause every video or guarantee that every application responds in the same way.

Identify the specific obstacle: a moving recommendation makes its title difficult to read, a transition changes the control location, or a preview begins while the viewer is navigating. That description is more useful than asking to remove all video from a video player. The programme and decorative interface effects serve different purposes.

A hypothetical recommendation panel

Suppose a viewer enables the operating system's documented reduced-motion preference and returns to an authorised player's recommendation panel. The panel still slides between programmes while they try to read the descriptions. Record the system preference, browser or app version and the actual movement that remains. Do not claim the setting failed everywhere from one component's behaviour.

Check for a player-specific motion, preview or autoplay preference through its official controls. If one helps, note exactly which behaviour changes. A control stopping previews may leave transitions unchanged, and a reduced-motion response may simplify a transition rather than remove it. Assess the browsing task the viewer needs, not the label of the setting alone.

Avoid relying on an unknown extension that rewrites the entire page before establishing the original behaviour. Such changes can also affect captions or controls and make support reproduction harder. A simple record of the normal interface with the documented preference provides a clearer starting point.

Keep navigation and playback usable

After a supported change, browse the programme choices, read a description, select an item and operate the required controls. Confirm that reducing decorative movement has not removed the information needed to understand the action. A still interface can be useful while preserving an intentional programme playback route.

A precise report names the moving component, user preference and completed or blocked task. It does not need a private medical explanation. The useful outcome is a media interface the viewer can navigate comfortably, with programme playback and nonessential visual effects understood as separate behaviours.

Questions answered

Will reduced motion automatically stop the programme?

Do not assume that. It is a preference for reducing interface motion; application behaviour and playback controls need separate checks.

What should I report if recommendations keep moving?

Name the component, documented preference, environment and actual browsing task that remains difficult.
