The two official pages have different scope
NVIDIA’s SHIELD overview retains a generic limitation around AI upscaling above 30 Hz. Its official Experience 8.2 release history specifically adds 60 fps AI upscaling to the 2019 SHIELD TV Pro. Treat the exact-model release note as the relevant exception rather than repeating a universal 30 fps rule.
This is a documentation reconciliation, not a claim that every SHIELD model or every source supports the same processing. Identify the hardware and installed software first.
Check the actual item and processing state
Use the documented AI upscaling controls and compare a known supported source. Record its reported frame rate where available and the processing option shown. Do not infer source timing from the TV’s output mode alone.
If the feature is unavailable, inspect other eligibility conditions and the current model-specific guidance. One historical addition does not remove every format limit.
Keep the source label honest
Even when AI processing works on a 60 fps source, upscaling remains processing of the original recording. It does not make an HD programme native 4K.
For support, include the 2019 Pro identity, software and item properties. This preserves the useful manufacturer exception while avoiding an unsupported promise for the smaller SHIELD TV or older generations.
Questions answered
Is the generic 30 fps limit universal across SHIELD?
No. NVIDIA’s 8.2 release history identifies a 60 fps addition for 2019 SHIELD TV Pro.
Does the exception apply automatically to every SHIELD model?
No. Preserve the exact model and software scope.
