Identify the display arrangement first
Sending video to another connected screen is a desktop display task, separate from wireless casting. Begin by confirming that the operating system recognizes the intended second screen and that you know which physical display corresponds to its listed identity.
Keep the player controls and a working recovery route on the main computer screen. Choose one known local sample and close unrelated private material on the receiving display. A display selected from a menu can be the wrong monitor when several screens or virtual outputs are present.
Use the documented player command
SMPlayer’s first-steps guide gives Video, Send video to screen and the chosen screen. Inspect the available list in the installed build and record the original arrangement. Use the actual connected output rather than a label copied from another computer.
Open the known sample and select the intended screen deliberately. Confirm that the video reaches that display while the expected controls remain accessible. A window moving and a media picture rendering correctly are different observations, so inspect the sample itself.
Check audio separately from the screen selection
Listen to the known speech passage and identify where sound emerges. A video-screen choice should not be treated as proof of a particular speaker route. Keep the operating system’s actual audio endpoint and any player selection in the notes if audio differs.
Test pause, resume and an ordinary exit from fullscreen or second-screen playback. Do not unplug the display during the first comparison. A hot-unplug event changes the operating-system display arrangement and is a separate case that should be recorded explicitly if it matters to the real workflow.
Return to the intended ordinary arrangement
After the demonstration, bring the output back through the supported controls and verify the main-screen sample still works. If the external display will be disconnected later, test the application’s ordinary return route before relying on it in a presentation.
Retain the screen identities, app version and observed audio/video result. The expected outcome is controlled output to a real connected screen. It does not provide Chromecast discovery, certify every projector mode or guarantee that a selected screen adds resolution or HDR detail absent from the source.
Questions answered
Is Send video to screen the same task as Chromecast playback?
No. This guide concerns a display connected to the computer and the documented screen-selection command.
Does a second-screen picture prove the intended speakers are selected?
No. Verify the actual audio endpoint separately using a known speech passage.
