A correct sentence can have a wrong destination
An interactive transcript can contain accurate words while linking to the wrong media moment. W3C WAI describes interactive transcripts as player functionality using timed captions. Publishing revised media therefore needs a navigation review as well as a text review.
For an invented edit that removes a 20-second introduction, a later sentence can remain unchanged while its destination shifts. Updating only the page title or media filename does not establish that the transcript's time links were revised.
Classify the edit
A simple opening trim may permit a consistent time adjustment for retained material. A reordered passage needs a different mapping. Removed text needs removal or an explicit archival relationship, rather than a link redirected to an unrelated nearby scene.
Retain the previous transcript, caption source and media generation. Give the final transcript its own version identity. That makes it possible to explain a stale search result or bookmarked transcript link without guessing which cut the reader used.
Questions answered
Does unchanged transcript wording prove the links are still correct?
No. Media edits can change destinations without changing the retained words.
Can one global offset repair a reordered programme?
Not generally. Reordered and removed passages need an edit-aware mapping and review.
