Identify which community feature you are looking for
Viki’s community interfaces have changed at different times. Its current notice says discussions on Channel and Cast pages, plus comments on Viki and Fan Collection pages, are being removed starting with mobile version 25.6. A missing discussion box on one of those pages should not be treated as proof that every community function or the video itself failed. The same notice points viewers toward reviews and Timed Comments. Begin with the actual purpose: react to a scene, write about the whole programme or coordinate a shared session. Those are different tasks, even when an older guide calls all of them comments.
Use Timed Comments for scene-linked reactions
Viki describes Timed Comments as viewer messages attached to particular moments in a video. They are user contributions, not the programme’s dialogue subtitles or an official translation track. Its help says signed-in users can write them and that viewers can switch their display on or off. If words moving over a scene are distracting, inspect that control before changing the subtitle language. On the documented web route, the Timed Comments icon is at the player’s top right. Mobile instructions use the full-screen or landscape player and its top-right menu, then the Timed Comments On or Off choice.
Keep technical problems out of the scene conversation
The Timed Comments policy asks that reactions relate to the show or scene and directs technical issues to the customer-experience team. Subtitle availability and quality comments can be removed from that surface. A missing track is therefore better described through support with its title and episode than posted repeatedly over the video. When sharing a genuine scene reaction, remember that other viewers may be encountering the story for the first time. Check the current community guidelines before posting. This article explains the choices without publishing a comment, inviting another viewer or treating somebody else’s reaction as a verified fact about the production.
Do not confuse timed messages with synchronized Watch Party
Viki’s separate retirement notice says Watch Party ended on 4 December 2024, so viewers can no longer host or join that native feature on Viki.com. Timed Comments continuing to exist does not mean that shared playback control returned. If a friend sees the same comment at the same scene on another day, that is consistent with a message tied to the video’s timeline. For a private conversation, agree on the episode and position through your chosen communication method while each person uses legitimate access. Do not describe that manual arrangement as a functioning Viki Watch Party or promise that the service synchronizes everyone’s playback.
Questions answered
Are Viki Timed Comments the same as subtitles?
No. They are viewer messages attached to moments in the video; their display has its own control.
Does Timed Comments availability mean Viki Watch Party still works?
No. Viki separately says Watch Party was discontinued on 4 December 2024.
