Practical viewing journal

A past EPG page is a schedule record until replay access is established

Distinguish yesterday’s programme listing from an actual replay option, retention window and account entitlement.

Catch-up is an account-specific feature

A calendar entry describes a scheduled programme

A guide may retain yesterday’s programme listing even when no replay is available. Navigating backward in a schedule and opening a playable recording are different actions. The calendar tells you what was scheduled; it does not by itself establish storage, access permission or a replay window.

Begin with the exact channel edition and local date. A time-zone difference or time-shifted feed can make yesterday refer to a different programme moment than the viewer expects. Keep the date, zone and full feed label together before asking whether an item is missing.

Look for the actual playback route

Inspect the controls the player genuinely offers for the entry. A visible replay action, where one exists, is different from an ordinary programme-information panel. Even a control can depend on the source, app version and account conditions.

Do not manufacture a replay address by altering a live stream URL or assume a universal seven-day period because a calendar shows a week. Use the source format and replay arrangement actually supplied for the account. If they are unclear, ask through the legitimate contact route.

A hypothetical guide-reading example

Imagine a viewer selects yesterday’s 21:00 entry and sees a programme description but no playback action. The observation is that the historical information is visible. It is not yet a failed recording. In another case, a replay action appears but returns an error; that is a later stage with a specific control and result to report.

If the entry opens a different programme, include both the scheduled label and the content that appeared. The guide identifier or regional edition may be part of the investigation. Changing the overall device clock before checking the source can create more disagreement.

Keep these fields in the report

  • Channel name and exact regional or time-shifted edition.
  • Original programme date/time and the guide’s displayed zone.
  • The control selected: information, replay, restart or another actual option.
  • What appeared, including exact error wording where present.
  • Any confirmed replay conditions for the account.

Ask about availability rather than infer retention

A replay window is a service and programme condition. It can differ from a player’s ability to display schedule data. A past event being listed, a recording menu or a familiar broadcaster logo cannot define that window.

For a purchase decision, state the past programmes or catch-up use you actually need and obtain the applicable conditions before payment. For a technical enquiry, keep the historical listing, selected action and observed result separate. That makes it possible to discuss a specific replay question without pretending every old guide item should be a stored programme.

Questions answered

Does a week-long guide mean seven days of replay?

No. Historical schedule information and a replay entitlement are separate.

Should I edit a live URL to create catch-up?

No. Use the documented source and replay route actually provided for the account.
