Channel identity

DD India and DD News need separate channel labels
DD India identifies itself as Prasar Bharati’s English international news channel. DD News has a different service identity and describes producing content in several languages, including material for sister channels. An English-language news page, shared headline or familiar Doordarshan logo is therefore insufficient to identify the running television feed.
Begin with DD India when that is the requested channel, then retain the particular programme name. If a report also appears on a DD News website, that publication does not establish that the same edition is airing on both linear services at that moment. The channel label and the individual item answer separate questions.
Choose the weekly programme by its editorial task
Prasar Bharati’s DD India page identifies Voice of the Global South as a weekly programme covering developments across regions including Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia and Oceania. Connecting the Dots is presented as a half-hour issue-analysis programme, while Economic Brief focuses on Indian and international economic developments. These titles identify different editorial selections.
Keep the programme title rather than reducing each request to international news. The same page links particular programme videos, including numbered episodes and DD India News Hour items. A numbered weekly magazine, an issue-specific discussion and a news-hour edition should retain their own titles when saved or requested as recordings.
Use episode identifiers to find an earlier discussion
A DD India article published on 30 October 2026 explicitly summarises that week’s Economic Brief and identifies its guest, Dr Amit Kapoor. The page provides useful episode clues, but its written summary is a different resource from the complete television recording. Retain the publication date, programme and guest when searching for that edition.
Indian Diplomacy has another useful identifier: O.P. Jindal Global University’s own 20 June 2026 notice identifies episode 177 of Dr Sreeram Chaulia’s programme on DD India and supplies a video link. An episode number and host can distinguish it from a separate news report about Indian foreign relations or another programme discussing the same topic.
Read the stated time basis before setting a reminder
Prasar Bharati’s programme page gives its recurring slots in IST. Keep that stated basis and the applicable date when converting a reminder, using Asia/Kolkata for the India-origin calendar. A recurring programme description should still be checked against the current dated guide before relying on a particular transmission, especially during special coverage.
For the running channel, DD India’s own homepage supplies a separately labelled live-watch link. Use that route when the request is continuous television. A dated article timestamp, an episode’s upload date and a linear start time describe different events. Confirm which one the selected page provides before treating it as the start of a live programme.
Questions answered
Does an English DD News page establish that DD India is playing?
No. Identify the actual television feed and selected programme. Related websites can publish overlapping material.
Is the Economic Brief article a complete replay?
It is a written episode summary. Use its date, guest and title to locate the appropriate programme recording.
Should the publisher’s IST programme slot be read as European local time?
No. Preserve the date and India time basis, then convert for the actual viewing location.
