France 3 ICI: regional edition, local insert or shared programme?

Use the ICI bulletin’s actual territory and recording scope instead of confusing editorial editions with receiver channels.

An edition count is not a receiver-channel count

France Télévisions’ launch account explains that the two national France 3 news editions became forty-eight regional editions, produced across twenty-four regional newsrooms. That describes the midday and evening news offering. It should not be read as a direction to find forty-eight simultaneously numbered France 3 channels on a receiver.

Keep the edition name with the territory. ICI 12/13 and ICI 19/20 are different appointments, even when they concern the same region and day. A generic France 3 favourite or ICI article does not establish which complete television bulletin a viewer has opened.

A national or international story inside a regional edition does not erase that edition’s regional identity.

A shorter local insert can appear beside a wider regional edition

A published March 2026 regional grid distinguishes longer ICI 19/20 editions for Auvergne, Alpes and Rhône-Alpes from shorter local entries for places such as Grand Lyon and Saint-Étienne. Those entries show different programme scopes under a familiar news brand. A shorter local item is not automatically an incomplete copy of the wider regional bulletin.

When seeking a recording, preserve the exact territory and duration supplied by the programme page. A city-focused insert can be the intended production. A viewer wanting the wider evening edition should choose that entry rather than expect the local insert to continue through the whole regional programme.

ICI includes radio, television and digital publication

France Télévisions’ 2025 activity account describes morning editions shared with the ICI radio network alongside midday and evening television news and digital regional coverage. The common brand does not turn every ICI publication into one television programme. An article, a radio segment and a complete television edition remain separate items.

Retain the medium and programme title when a search mixes them. A local report can be republished on a regional site without providing the full ICI 19/20 broadcast. An audio morning discussion is also a different request from the evening television bulletin about the same regional subject.

A shared programme can follow the regional bulletin

The broadcaster’s current regional information describes On vous emmène ici as a separate supplement after the regional evening editions, featuring heritage reports from across the regions. Seeing a place outside the viewer’s own area in that programme does not, by itself, show that the wrong regional bulletin was selected.

Record the point at which the programme changes before reporting a regional mismatch. A useful note includes France 3, the full ICI edition and territory, date, and whether the observed item was the local bulletin or a following shared programme. This separates actual region selection from a legitimate change of programme within the evening schedule.

Questions answered

Does forty-eight news editions mean forty-eight receiver channels?

No. The launch description counts regional midday and evening editions across the newsrooms.

Is a short city insert necessarily a broken full regional bulletin?

No. Published grids distinguish local and regional programme scopes; check the exact entry.
