Choose the media type first
LRT’s official FAQ directs films and series to LRT EPIKA while retaining its own programme recordings in Mediateka. Its service description also distinguishes the radio library. Start by deciding whether the remembered item was a film, a television programme or an audio production.
A general website search can mix a news article about a film, a conversation with its director and the film itself. Those results may all contain the correct title while answering different viewing needs. Inspect the result type before assuming that the first match is the intended video.
Use filters to remove the wrong kind of result
LRT documents separate article/photo and Mediateka choices, with further audio/video filtering and date controls. When the programme title is known, preserve its Lithuanian form and select the relevant media category. Add a date range after you have confirmed that the result type is useful.
If an approximate English translation yields little, return to the title printed in the programme guide or official article. An English-language news section does not establish an English soundtrack or subtitles for a Lithuanian television recording. Website navigation and programme presentation remain separate.
A channel is useful context, not the whole search
LRT distinguishes TELEVIZIJA, PLUS and LITUANICA, with different editorial purposes. Retain the channel if you know it, especially when a cultural programme or diaspora edition is the target. Do not substitute one channel’s live page for a named programme recording merely because the broadcaster identity is correct.
For a recurring programme, compare the edition date and guests or subject. A short excerpt can be indexed close to a full recording. The result’s length and description help establish whether it contains the complete discussion you intended to revisit.
Confirm the episode set before making a plan
The FAQ explains that some series have limited episode windows. Finding several episodes is not proof that an entire season is currently available. Before planning a sequence of evenings, inspect the first, middle and final episodes you need and the item-level availability information.
Save the exact item pages with your shortlist. If something is absent later, distinguish a catalogue move, an expired episode and a search mismatch. The correct response depends on which observation is true; changing playback settings cannot locate a film in the wrong library.
