The state window interrupts a shared NDR schedule

NDR’s television programme grid marks regional windows separately from the surrounding shared schedule. Its evening state programmes include Hamburg Journal, Hallo Niedersachsen, Nordmagazin and Schleswig-Holstein Magazin. A general NDR favourite can therefore be insufficient when a household wants one of those particular bulletins.

Begin with the intended state and actual programme title. A report filmed in Hamburg inside a wider NDR programme is not automatically Hamburg Journal. Likewise, a national Tagesschau slot shown on NDR is a separate news programme from the state bulletin immediately before it.

Earlier bulletins do not always use the same title

The current NDR grid also identifies an earlier regional window with titles including Hamburg Journal 18.00, Niedersachsen 18.00, Schleswig-Holstein 18:00 and Nordmagazin – Land und Leute. The early and later programmes are related regional services, but their names and lengths need not be interchangeable.

Keep the edition’s date and time with an archive request. If a search finds the early bulletin, it may not contain the later evening treatment of a developing story. Conversely, a longer later programme is not evidence that an earlier short recording is incomplete. Match the requested edition before comparing durations.

For example, Niedersachsen 18.00 and Hallo Niedersachsen should retain their separate names even when a personal folder groups both under Lower Saxony news.

A regional studio is not automatically a separate television feed

NDR describes four state broadcasting centres alongside a wider network of regional studios and correspondent offices. Those reporting locations contribute to television, radio and digital journalism. A studio town in a byline identifies reporting context; it does not, by itself, create another full linear television channel.

When checking a local item, identify whether it is video, audio or text and which programme carried it. A radio interview produced by a regional studio cannot replace the complete television bulletin merely because both concern the same county. Retain the medium and publisher attribution with the regional subject.

Match the edition before choosing the viewing route

The NDR programme grid links television items to available media-library material and provides live-channel access. Use the selected state programme when seeking a completed bulletin; use the running stream for the present schedule. A page promoting several state programmes together does not mean a single recording contains every edition.

For a household favourite, write the state beside NDR and preserve the complete programme title. If the wrong edition appears only during the regional window, tell the receiving provider the expected and observed states, date and receiving equipment. That is more useful than reporting that all NDR programming is wrong when the shared schedule is otherwise correct.

Questions answered

Does a regional studio byline mean there is a separate channel for that town?

No. NDR’s studio network produces several media formats; identify the actual television edition.

Is the earlier regional bulletin necessarily the full evening programme?

No. Keep its title, date and edition time when choosing a recording.
