The two island channels retain their own programme identities

RTP lists RTP Açores and RTP Madeira separately in its television channel guide. Their own websites also distinguish television from the corresponding Antena radio services. Select the island television service before choosing a news programme; an RTP network label alone does not settle that regional request.

The distinction is useful for listeners as well as viewers. An Antena 1 Madeira audio item can concern the same local story as an RTP Madeira video, while providing a different production. A radio programme should not be saved as the full television bulletin merely because the regional newsroom and subject are familiar.

Keep Telejornal Açores and Telejornal Madeira separate

RTP’s live and programme pages identify Telejornal Açores and Telejornal Madeira as named television programmes. Keep the island with Telejornal when seeking a recording. A general search for RTP Telejornal can otherwise point to a national bulletin or the other island service.

RTP Madeira’s published grid also distinguishes Notícias das 19 from Telejornal Madeira. Those names identify different bulletin appointments rather than alternative spellings of one recording. If a developing story changed during the evening, the earlier programme may not contain the later information, even when both items are complete.

A shared Atlantic subject does not merge the schedules

The Madeira grid describes Notícias do Atlântico as coverage connecting the diaspora with current affairs from both autonomous regions. That programme’s wider subject is a useful clue when a viewer remembers a report about the other island group. It does not make the complete RTP Açores and RTP Madeira schedules identical.

Keep the actual programme title with the story rather than assigning every Azores report to the Azores channel. A shared magazine, a report within a bulletin and a full regional news edition answer different viewing requests. Inspect the selected recording’s title and duration before replacing one with another.

Check live and repeat markers before making a reminder

The Madeira programme grid uses separate markers for Direto and Repetição, and can show a named bulletin again later. A repeated programme on the running channel is different from live coverage of a new event. Preserve the original bulletin date when comparing a repeat with a current news headline.

For a time actually stated as local to the originating island service, retain Atlantic/Azores or Atlantic/Madeira as appropriate together with the date. A mainland or personalized guide can use a different time basis, so read the displayed reference before conversion. Keep the receiving service and requested edition in the reminder instead of relying only on a Portuguese-language channel category.

A repeated Telejornal keeps its original news-edition date even if the repeat slot appears after midnight.
