Sorbian television: Wuhladko and Łužyca editions

Find Upper and Lower Sorbian television magazines, distinguish complete programmes from reports and retain their bilingual catalogue clues.

A logo is identity evidence

Two magazine titles identify different productions

MDR’s Wuhladko and rbb’s Łužyca are separate television magazines about Sorbian life. Their official pages provide programme and on-demand routes. Wuhladko is associated with Upper Sorbian production; Łužyca with Lower Sorbian production in the Niederlausitz. The broadcaster and exact title are useful identifiers when a broad search for “Sorbian TV” mixes results.

Begin with the language and community you want to follow, then choose the magazine. Someone interested in a particular interview should also preserve the participant or place name. A report on a shared cultural subject can appear in more than one programme without making the editions interchangeable.

Use bilingual catalogue wording as a bridge

The rbb page shows Sorbian and German titles or descriptions alongside individual reports. MDR identifies German subtitles for Wuhladko. These are practical discovery aids for viewers who can recognise a subject in German but are still learning to search in a Sorbian language.

Copy the exact programme title with its diacritics into your notes. Then record the report’s own title in the form published by the broadcaster. If you later search using only a translated title from a conversation or article, you may miss the catalogue wording that actually identifies it. A bilingual web description also should not be treated as proof of a separately selectable audio track.

Choose the whole edition when editorial context matters

Programme pages may place a complete magazine beside several short reports. Use the shorter item for a specific interview or demonstration. Use the whole edition when you want the introduction, the order of stories and the connections made between them.

For language practice, choose a passage with a clear situation and return to the complete programme if the reference is unclear. For a discussion of representation, compare the opening with the reports selected for that edition. A collection of short clips cannot establish how much time the entire magazine gave to each topic.

Check the current edition rather than memorising a slot

The official rbb pages surfaced different recurring time strings during research, while current editions have their own dates and durations. This guide therefore avoids a permanent broadcast-time promise. Use the latest schedule when planning live viewing and the dated edition record when seeking a replay.

Keep the broadcaster, magazine title, edition date and individual-report title together. That is enough to recover the viewing choice more reliably than a generic language-channel label. Published pages establish the programme distinctions; they do not prove that every old edition survives online or that all access features are identical.

Questions answered

Are Wuhladko and Łužyca the same programme?

No. They are separate MDR and rbb magazines associated with Upper and Lower Sorbian production respectively.

Does a bilingual report title prove two audio versions?

No. Catalogue language and programme audio are different things. Inspect the actual item for available playback options.
