Keep EBC language editions, parliamentary coverage and Addis Media Network distinct when identifying Ethiopian television programmes.

Identify the broadcaster as well as the programme

Ethiopia's Government Communication Service lists Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation, AMN–Addis Media Network, Oromia Broadcasting Network and several other media institutions separately. This matters when a viewer remembers only an Ethiopian programme or an Addis Ababa news item: a place name or a country flag does not establish which organisation published it.

Begin with the publisher's complete name and the programme's original title. EBC and AMN should remain separate entries in a viewing note. If a clip is shared by another account, trace its original broadcaster identification before treating the sharing account as the source of the channel or the complete edition.

The website edition and the spoken programme are separate

EBC's English site links to Amharic and Afaan Oromo editions. The government media directory also identifies an ETV Afaan Oromoo publishing account alongside EBC's other official channels. These are useful identity clues for a viewer seeking a particular language, without implying that every EBC video offers selectable language tracks.

Retain an original Ethiopic-script title, or the publisher's own Afaan Oromo spelling, when searching for a programme. Add an English explanation separately if it helps another household member. Transliteration can vary, so a copied title and dated publisher page are often more reliable than a guessed English programme name. Confirm the spoken edition rather than relying on the language of the surrounding website.

ETV Parliament needs its own viewing request

EBC reported the launch of ETV Parliament Channel on 6 October 2025 and named its mobile app as a route for following that service. This establishes a specific parliamentary television identity. It does not mean every EBC news bulletin or every video mentioning parliament is a continuous broadcast of proceedings.

Decide whether you need a sitting, an edited report, an interview or an archived debate. Record the legislative subject and session date as well as the channel. A news story about a parliamentary decision may be exactly right for a short update, while someone researching the debate needs the complete published proceedings rather than a selected extract.

Preserve the date convention before converting a time

When copying an Ethiopian programme announcement, retain the date and clock notation as the publisher prints them. If the calendar or time convention is unclear, establish that basis before converting the programme for an overseas viewer. A guessed calendar conversion can select the wrong edition even if the channel itself is correct.

For a schedule explicitly expressed in standard local civil time, use Africa/Addis_Ababa in a date-aware calendar. Keep a replay's publication date separate from its original broadcast date. The official sources here establish broadcaster and language-edition identities and a channel launch; they do not establish IPTV Europe carriage, current app compatibility or access to every programme from every country.

Questions answered

Are EBC and AMN two names for the same channel?

The government media directory lists EBC and AMN–Addis Media Network as separate media institutions. Preserve the actual publisher in your request.

Does the English EBC website mean every video has English audio?

No. Website language, spoken programme language and selectable audio tracks are separate details.

What should I include when asking for ETV Parliament?

Include the session or subject, the published date, and whether you want live proceedings, a complete archive or a news report.
