Viewing location
GRTS and QTV are different Gambian viewing destinations
The Gambian government's directory identifies Gambia Radio and Television Services as GRTS. QTV's own site separately identifies its Gambian television service and programme collection. Keep the actual broadcaster when locating a programme rather than treating a Gambia category as one national feed or assuming every local report belongs to GRTS.
QTV is also a name used by unrelated broadcasters elsewhere. The qtv.gm publisher identity and the programme title provide useful country context. A logo, an abbreviation or a search result about a Gambian subject is weaker evidence than the complete broadcaster and production name when selecting a household favourite.
Named QTV programmes answer different viewing requests
QTV's published programmes include The Viewpoint, Saturday Splash and Youth Dialogue. The broadcaster describes Saturday Splash around music and performance, with interactive participation described on its programme page. The title is useful for someone seeking a musical appearance, while a current-affairs conversation or youth discussion needs its own production reference.
For a particular performance, keep the artist, programme and edition date. An interview with the artist can provide background without containing the complete performance. An older page describing audience participation also does not prove a live call-in is open now. Use the current edition or announcement to establish the actual event and participation route.
GRTS television and radio need separate programme labels
GRTS's site separates television-bulletin catch-up from its national radio listening route. Primary accounts from programme participants likewise distinguish radio appearances, including The Gambia Today, from television. A playable discussion with a familiar presenter is therefore not sufficient evidence that the requested television pictures have been selected.
Before diagnosing a missing image, record the service, programme and medium. For a bulletin, retain the edition date rather than only a headline. A written story, a radio discussion and a television report can concern the same public issue while having different guests, duration or visual material. Keep those formats clear when sharing a result with another viewer.
Check a dated Gambian appointment rather than a generic widget
Use an actual programme announcement when planning a live viewing appointment. An undated next-on widget, an old programme description or a list of television genres cannot establish today's complete timetable. For sport, retain the fixture and competition edition; a past tournament announcement is not continuing evidence of future live rights.
Use Africa/Banjul when the broadcaster explicitly gives Gambian local time, and convert the full calendar date for a viewer abroad. For replay, save the original edition separately from the upload date. These official broadcaster and government references establish services and programme context; they do not verify IPTV Europe carriage, current interactive features or identical access through another provider.
Questions answered
Is every QTV result the Gambian television service?
No. Confirm the qtv.gm publisher identity and the actual programme title because the abbreviation is used elsewhere.
What identifies a Saturday Splash appearance?
Keep the artist, programme title and edition date, and distinguish a performance from an interview or a promotional clip.
Does The Gambia Today necessarily mean television pictures?
No. Primary participant material identifies a GRTS radio programme by that title. Confirm the medium and service before selecting it.
