SIBC television output and a future terrestrial service are different

SIBC’s current homepage publishes dated SIBC TV News material and links to its video channel. Its institutional page says television news and programmes are presently streamed or published through YouTube and Facebook, while describing a free-to-air television ambition for 2028. Current digital output should therefore not be confused with a completed future transmitter rollout.

This distinction matters when choosing how to watch. A dated online bulletin demonstrates a published video item; it does not establish reception through a local aerial. Likewise, a future service plan is not proof of present coverage at an address. Use the current broadcaster notice for the route you actually intend to use.

TTV and TTV Now identify a separate distribution arrangement

Telekom Television’s official site directs viewers from the former m.ttv.sb service to TTV Now. Its current pages distinguish mobile-app viewing from the desktop browser destination. An old bookmark can therefore point to a retired route without establishing that the channel itself has disappeared.

Follow the present official instructions and identify the television service inside the platform. TTV’s site describes TTV1, TTV2 and TTV3 separately from other offered material. A platform account, a numbered channel and an individual movie are different items, even when they appear under one login.

A historic sports agreement has a date and conditions

SIBC reported a 2023 carriage agreement with Telekom Television in the context of Pacific Games coverage and a proposed new service. That report is useful history, but it should not be read as a permanent statement of every present channel, sporting right or distribution arrangement.

For a current event, find the new announcement and confirm the exact programme route. A news story about a tournament may be available while a complete match is offered elsewhere or under separate conditions. Keep the event date and the named broadcaster or platform together instead of generalising from an earlier Games agreement.

Keep a bulletin, a live programme and a subscription distinct

For SIBC news, use the date attached to the complete video bulletin. A short social excerpt and the full edition can cover the same story without being equivalent. For a live event, inspect the player state and official event notice rather than relying on an old “live” caption.

For TTV Now, check current plans and device instructions through TTV itself. A historic price or local network offer should not become a promise for overseas viewers or another provider. If asking about Solomon Islands television, specify SIBC TV News or the relevant TTV service, your location, and whether you need a live item or recording. A country label alone leaves all of those choices open.

Questions answered

Does SIBC’s online TV news prove free-to-air television is already available?

No. SIBC distinguishes its current streamed or published programmes from a planned free-to-air service. Check the present reception route.
