St Helena: use Sure’s island television package
The SH directory entry covers St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha, so the island belongs in every service enquiry. Sure’s St Helena website publishes a television channel page with Standard and Premium packages. Its selection combines entertainment, news, children’s channels and named SuperSport services, rather than one undifferentiated sports feed.
For a St Helena household, use the exact channel and ask which current package carries it. A cricket channel request, a general news bulletin and a film-channel request may involve different schedule entries. The published selection is the starting point for a provider check; confirm the required installation and current subscription with Sure for the actual property.
Ascension: BFBS describes a forces-community service
BFBS has an Ascension location page identifying television in communal areas and accommodation. It also lists radio and cinema separately. A film shown through the Travellers’ Hill cinema is therefore a different service from a television programme delivered to accommodation, even though the same organisation describes both.
BFBS’s general access information limits its television offering to entitled British Forces communities overseas. Its online player guidance describes eligibility and account requirements, while its television help distinguishes satellite reception from streaming. A resident, visitor or contractor should establish their own entitlement through the appropriate local or BFBS contact. Presence on Ascension alone does not establish access to every BFBS product.
Tristan: retain the island’s own documented arrangement
The joint Tristan government and association website published a first-hand account in May 2024 by the deputy head of its Telecommunications Department. It described a visit to BFBS, identified BFBS as the island’s broadcasting provider, and reported television and radio support extending over two decades. This is evidence about Tristan itself.
The account described five television channels at that time and the replacement of one channel. Keep that date attached to the information rather than reproducing it as a guaranteed current lineup. Someone seeking a particular programme on Tristan should ask the local telecommunications service which channel is currently relayed and how the programme is scheduled. St Helena’s Sure package cannot answer that separate question.
Match the delivery method and originating calendar
BFBS explains that its satellite and online offerings can differ because their permissions differ. Its player guidance also warns that programme availability and catch-up are not identical. When an expected programme is missing, record the island, delivery method, full channel name and programme date before contacting the service responsible for that location.
Keep radio, cinema and television requests separate when making the enquiry, and state whether live viewing or a complete recording is needed. For a local reminder, the directory’s verified calendar identifier is Atlantic/St_Helena; retain the actual island name with the entry. If a listing originates in Britain or South Africa, preserve that originating date and location when converting it to the island’s viewing time.
