Keep the RTS channel number in the request

RTS publishes separate television pages for RTS 1 and RTS 2, alongside a wider programme directory. Its RTS 1 page carries general television and news programmes; its RTS 2 page describes entertainment and sport. The channel number should remain attached to a programme request instead of being shortened to a single RTS label.

Start with the broadcaster's own channel page and the specific programme title. A broadcaster can publish material from several services in one replay area, so the presence of a programme on the RTS website is not enough to identify its original channel. Keep that original service when organising favourites or asking about an edition.

Xibaar Yi is a useful language-specific clue

RTS 1's published selection identifies Xibaar Yi as its Wolof news edition. The same page separately lists Journal Télévisé, Édition du Soir and the morning programme Kenkelibaa. These programme names give a more precise starting point than asking only for Senegalese news, especially in a household with different language preferences.

For a Wolof bulletin request, preserve Xibaar Yi and the desired date rather than replacing the title with a generic French translation. For another bulletin, check the actual spoken edition instead of inferring its language from a French website menu. A related story about the same event may not contain the presentation, length or language the viewer wanted.

Live television and replay have different dates

RTS 1 separates its live area from dated replay entries. An edition listed in replay is evidence of a published programme, not proof that it is the current live bulletin. The title can contain a familiar time label even when the page is showing an earlier day's recording.

For an archive, save the programme name and the edition date together. For live viewing, consult the current channel and dated schedule instead. Treat generic display times, publication stamps and programme-title times as different fields; copying the first clock value on a page can confuse an upload time with a broadcast appointment.

Sport and cultural events need an edition-level check

RTS 2's entertainment and sport identity is useful for discovering a programme, but it cannot establish coverage of a particular fixture. Record the teams or event, competition, date and named RTS channel from an actual announcement. Distinguish a live match from a sports discussion, highlights programme or report included in a news bulletin.

Use Africa/Dakar when a Senegalese schedule is stated in local time, then convert it for the viewer's own dated calendar. A European summer-time change can alter the relationship with a regular Senegalese programme. RTS's public channel and replay pages explain its published offering; they do not certify IPTV Europe carriage, overseas event rights or the duration of a replay window.

Questions answered

Which RTS programme is specifically identified as Wolof news?

RTS 1 identifies Xibaar Yi as a Wolof news edition. Keep the exact programme title and broadcast date when looking for it.

Does a replay of yesterday’s bulletin identify today’s live programme?

No. Select the dated replay for an archive, or check the current channel schedule for a live appointment.

Does RTS 2’s sport identity confirm a particular match?

No. A specific fixture needs a dated programme announcement naming the channel and whether the coverage is live or recorded.
