Choose the relationship you want
Formuler’s CEC guide lists separate controls for enabling CEC, turning off with the TV, turning on with the TV and using the TV remote. These are different behaviors. A household may want linked wake but prefer another shutdown arrangement.
Identify the exact box and television, then check that the TV supports and enables HDMI-CEC. A working picture on HDMI is not proof that control messages are enabled.
Use the box’s current settings route
Formuler documents Home, Settings, Device Preferences or Advanced Settings, HDMI CEC, with the route depending on model. Use the labels available on the actual firmware and keep the TV’s own CEC terminology in its manual.
Enable only the intended supported behaviors first. Write down the starting configuration so unexpected input or power changes can be compared without resetting the entire box.
Keep a usable fallback
Retain the Formuler remote for functions the TV remote does not expose. The goal is predictable ordinary use, not an unsupported promise that every button or app action becomes available through one controller.
When seeking help, state the enabled option and observed direction of control. This page uses Formuler’s current guide and does not claim every third-party television implements CEC identically.
Questions answered
