Linked power is a control feature
LG SIMPLINK is its HDMI-CEC control feature. It lets compatible HDMI-connected equipment exchange commands such as linked power. It does not install a player, authorize a service or establish that every media format can pass through the connection.
Decide which devices should turn on or off together. A television, box and receiver can create more than one power relationship. Keep the desired behavior explicit before enabling every available option.
Follow the installed webOS layout
LG’s current guide places SIMPLINK under System, Devices, HDMI Settings on webOS 26 examples. Its webOS 22 and webOS 6 examples use General, Devices, HDMI Settings. Older generations have other routes. Check the exact model’s manual when a label differs.
Enable SIMPLINK where the connected equipment supports CEC. LG notes that Auto Power Sync is no longer a separate setting on webOS 6 and later; linked power is integrated with the documented SIMPLINK behavior.
Test both directions separately
Try waking the source and observe the television. Then try the intended shutdown action and observe each device. Record the outcome for each direction. Working wake behavior does not automatically establish working standby behavior.
Keep other HDMI devices unchanged during the test. If an unrelated device wakes or the input changes unexpectedly, investigate the control relationship rather than altering the programme or account.
Keep the household recovery clear
Tell the viewer which power action should control the room and retain the original remotes as a fallback. If the intended relationship is inconvenient, return to the documented controls and revise it rather than cutting mains power as the normal command.
This guide follows LG’s version-scoped examples. It does not promise that every third-party receiver or set-top box implements every CEC command identically.
Questions answered
Why can I not find Auto Power Sync on newer webOS?
LG says it is not a separate control on webOS 6 and later in the documented setup.
Does SIMPLINK prove a player supports a video service?
No. It concerns HDMI device control, not app or service authorization.
