Use the documented Sound Out route
LG’s example is Settings, All Settings, Sound, Sound Out. Select the option corresponding to the real connection. The guide illustrates a Magic Remote pointer, but also explains that a standard remote can navigate using arrows and OK.
Follow the labels shown on your model. LG warns that general illustrations can differ from the product. The webOS 24 example should not be relabelled as an identical menu for every older or newer LG TV.
Confirm where the sound actually plays
Play a short familiar passage at a moderate level and verify the intended speaker. If the TV is silent after switching to an external output, check that external device’s own volume is not at zero. Computer or app volume is only one stage of the route.
LG also shows a simultaneous TV/external-speaker option where supported. Treat that as an explicit output choice, not proof that every wired and wireless product can be combined. Check timing and comfort separately if using two audible routes.
Retain a usable fallback
Keep the route back to TV speakers familiar. It is a useful comparison when an external system is disconnected or unavailable. Test that fallback without resetting accounts or deleting viewing apps.
For help, provide the LG model, webOS version, selected Sound Out label and physical connection. This guide explains LG’s documented control and makes no hands-on sound-quality or compatibility claim for an individual speaker.
Questions answered
Do I need a Magic Remote to select Sound Out?
LG explains that a standard remote can use arrows and OK for the same navigation task.
Does external output silence prove an app failed?
No. Check the selected route and the external device’s own volume and input.
