Compatibility comes before measurement
Samsung Smart Calibration uses a compatible phone’s sensors with a supported television through SmartThings. Samsung’s UK guide discusses specific TV generations and distinguishes Basic and Professional modes. The feature name alone does not establish support on every Samsung TV or phone.
Check the exact television and phone against Samsung’s current compatibility information. A SmartThings connection that can change volume is not proof that calibration is available.
Prepare a stable comparison
Connect the TV and phone to the same Wi-Fi network and select the television in SmartThings. Follow the current calibration prompts for that supported combination. Keep the TV picture configuration stable so the before/after comparison concerns the measurement rather than another simultaneous change.
Choose an available mode according to the task and supported hardware. Samsung’s Professional instructions recommend controlled dark-room conditions and a tripod. Do not improvise sensor placement from a different manufacturer’s calibration app.
Use the available mode
Basic and Professional are different documented procedures. Samsung’s published Professional model set includes QN900B, QN800B, QN700B, QN95B and QN90B. A missing Professional option on another model is not evidence that a subscription or player is blocking it.
Complete the phone’s on-screen guide, then inspect the before/after choice with familiar material. Decide whether the resulting presentation suits the viewing environment. A subjective preference remains a preference, not an instrumented claim about reference accuracy.
Keep the result attached to the input
Record the TV model, supported mode used and relevant picture state. Recheck the ordinary viewing route after accepting the result. A calibration process does not prove a programme’s resolution, dynamic range or streaming quality.
This guide explains Samsung’s source-backed procedure and its model limits. It does not claim to have calibrated or measured a television, nor does it replace a model-specific professional display assessment.
Questions answered
Does SmartThings support imply Smart Calibration support?
No. Check the specific TV and phone compatibility.
Is Professional mode universal?
No. Samsung publishes a restricted supported-model set for that mode.
