Identify the numbered screens
After connecting the television, open Settings, System, Display and choose Identify. Windows puts a number on each detected screen. Match those numbers to the laptop and television before moving windows or changing per-display options.
If the television is missing from this settings view, use Detect under Multiple displays and inspect the cable or dock. A player’s fullscreen setting cannot configure a screen that Windows has not detected.
Choose the working arrangement
Duplicating displays shows the same desktop on both screens; extending gives them separate desktop areas. Choose based on the task. A viewer may want the programme on the TV with controls or other work on the laptop. A demonstration may need the same screen visible in both places.
Arrange the display rectangles to reflect their physical positions. Drag them in Display settings and apply the layout. Test moving the pointer between screens. This small step prevents a lost cursor from seeming like a frozen application when it has crossed an unexpected edge.
Set up the viewing position
Move the viewing window to the intended display and enter fullscreen there. Check how to leave fullscreen before hiding the controls. Then inspect audio output separately; the location of the picture does not prove the desired speakers are selected.
Use one familiar item to check readable controls, picture fit and sound. If the television is distant from the laptop, consider how the viewer will pause without moving around the room. That is an input-device decision as well as a display decision.
Keep later changes display-specific
Windows can retain separate settings for connected screens. Select the numbered TV before changing its scale, resolution or HDR options. A higher-resolution laptop panel does not establish the television’s supported modes.
For support, provide the identified arrangement, duplicate or extend choice and cable/dock route. If the TV is detected but the app opens on another screen, describe that directly; it is different from the television receiving no signal.

Why does the mouse leave through the wrong side?
The display rectangles may not match the physical arrangement. Reposition them and test the pointer path.
Does moving video to the TV also choose TV audio?
Do not assume so. Verify the sound output independently.
