Define the final programme
A saved live output is a source for an on-demand package. Decide where the intended recording begins and ends, whether waiting periods or technical interruptions remain, and which audio and accessibility versions belong with it. A file existing after the event is not the same as an approved publication.
Keep the unedited live source and a revision record. If the production removes an interval, identify the new timeline clearly. This decision affects captions, descriptions, chapters and any transcript links, not only the visible picture.
Finish the media relationship
For an HLS package, its end-of-presentation signalling needs to match the actual publishing state. RFC8216 defines ENDLIST as indicating no more media segments will be added. It is not an instruction to declare completion before the final media is available.
Review the last meaningful picture and sound, the intended tail and any interrupted final write. Check that all rendition and auxiliary resources belong to the final package. A finished video rendition alongside an unfinished alternate audio track is an incomplete handoff.
Move accessibility assets to the final timeline
Live captions can need correction and reconforming for the recorded version. Give reviewers the final cut and a list of removed or rearranged material. Preserve the live text separately when appropriate, so the archived caption source has an understandable history.
For a hypothetical seminar, removing an opening wait and a middle technical pause changes later time references differently. Review the final captions, transcript links and chapter starts around both changes. One global offset cannot account for unrelated edits automatically.
Publish a coherent revision
Complete the package before updating the destination's entry point. Use cache and resource identity choices that keep clients from mixing old and new assets. Confirm the published recording's title, duration, required tracks and version labels.
At closure, record structural checks, editorial review and destination playback separately. State any untested viewing route. The useful result is an intentional on-demand programme with matched supporting assets, rather than a live folder relabelled archive without examining what the audience receives.
Questions answered
Does adding ENDLIST review or repair the final segment?
No. It signals completion; media availability and content still need checking.
Can live captions be assumed ready for an edited recording?
No. Correct and align them with the approved recorded version.
