Choose the viewing surface before following sign-in steps
3Cat’s registration notice distinguishes web and HbbTV access from the main mobile, tablet and Smart-TV apps. Its Spanish FAQ separately describes registration-free connection to live channels. Start with the exact viewing route and feature: browser playback, personal account functions and a live connection are different observations.
Begin with the actual surface you intend to use. HbbTV is the connected-TV broadcasting environment, while an installed app is a different distribution route. Instructions copied from one screen can be correct there and incomplete on another.
Use registration for the functions attached to it
On web and HbbTV, the registration notice describes access without an account, with sign-in adding personal functions. It describes registration for the main app route. The Spanish FAQ separately says registration is not needed to connect with live channels. These published descriptions should not be turned into one universal rule for every live path; follow the actual surface and account prompt.
Use the same intended account when moving between personal devices. Keep a television activation or account-verification step inside the genuine 3Cat route. There is no reason to enter those credentials into a general playlist player merely because it displays Catalan channels.
Separate original subtitles from automatic translation
3Cat’s subtitle information includes Catalan text and some original-version or additional-language choices. Automatically translated options can contain mistakes. A translated track is useful for following a story, but it should not be treated as an exact transcript of every expression.
For language learning, identify which text track is selected and compare it with the spoken programme. Original Catalan subtitles and an automatically generated translation answer different needs. The service’s wider language offer does not mean every replay carries every option.
Keep the work and version in a subtitle report
Name the programme, episode and selected audio and subtitle labels. Say whether the issue is an unavailable track, wrong language, translation wording or timing. This avoids turning one programme-specific observation into an unsupported claim that the whole app has no subtitle support.
A radio item, a live television programme and an on-demand episode also have different presentation needs. Choose the actual media type before looking for a video control. The 3Cat name connects those experiences, but does not make their interfaces identical.
Questions answered
Can a web sign-in rule be assumed to apply to the Smart-TV app?
