The archive product is separate from public replay

ARD Plus presents an optional commercial selection, including programmes that may no longer be available in the public ARD Mediathek. The two catalogues should not be treated as identical copies with different buttons. Their availability arrangements and purposes differ.

If an older crime series or children’s programme is the reason for your search, inspect the actual ARD Plus title and episode. A memory of watching it in Mediathek does not establish that it remains in the public replay selection today.

A broadcasting contribution is not this subscription

The service explains the commercial archive in terms of additional licences and operation. Paying the broadcasting contribution does not automatically create an ARD Plus membership. That distinction helps a viewer understand why the public broadcaster’s account and a commercial archive offer can appear separately.

Likewise, an optional ARD personalisation account is not proof of an ARD Plus purchase. Keep the product name and the actual subscription confirmation rather than inferring commercial access from the broadcaster’s familiar logo.

Direct and hosted distribution need different account records

ARD Plus can appear through its direct offer or within another platform’s distribution. The purchasing account and seller should remain attached to the subscription. A channel acquired through a host is not automatically a direct website account.

Before changing or renewing anything, identify where the existing purchase is managed. If a title is unavailable in one route, compare that route’s actual collection and the specific season rather than assuming all hosted and direct editions must be identical.

An archive shortlist should name the actual programme

Use a programme title, season and episode where appropriate. Classics can have later adaptations or similarly named episodes, and a general archive category is not enough to identify the item you want. Read the film or episode information attached to the current offer.

A useful support question says whether the issue is locating the work, recognising a paid account or playing an item that is already available. This separates catalogue and commercial questions from a device error, and avoids treating every missing public replay as a technical fault.
