The channel and the programme page serve different needs
ARTE’s cultural offer includes scheduled television and digital programme viewing. Joining a live channel means entering its current schedule. Opening an on-demand documentary means selecting that particular work and version. The presence of the same broadcaster name does not make the two playback modes interchangeable.
If you missed a beginning, first identify whether you are using a channel control or an available replay. A programme listing can describe a scheduled broadcast without establishing that a playable on-demand version is currently offered in your location.
French and German are not the whole language question
ARTE’s French and German broadcast identities sit alongside a broader multilingual digital offer. That overall service description is different from the tracks supplied with one film, concert or documentary. Read the actual programme’s version menu rather than applying a service-wide language count to every title.
For a bilingual household, decide whether the need is spoken French or German, subtitles in another language, or a specific accessible version. Those are different selections. Record the chosen programme version when asking why a translation or soundtrack is missing.
Selected downloads need a selected title
The app describes offline viewing for selected programmes. A title in a watchlist is not automatically a downloaded copy, and a television app should not be assumed to have the same offline workflow as a mobile app.
Before a journey, use the intended device and check the download option on the programme itself. Review the selected version and subtitle choices, then test the resulting offline item. This is more reliable than assuming that every work found in the digital catalogue can be carried abroad without further conditions.
Use the programme page for a precise comparison
A useful ARTE enquiry includes the work’s title, the particular episode or concert, the version selected and whether the problem affects live or on-demand viewing. A subtitle problem in one documentary is different from the complete live channel failing to load.
Keep editorial discovery separate from technical playback. A recommendation in a cultural collection helps find a work; it does not establish an unlimited viewing window. For a changed availability or language option, the current programme page is the relevant reference point.
Questions answered
Does every ARTE programme have every ARTE language?
No. Programme and territorial availability vary.
Why does one ARTE page say six languages and another mention seven?
The retrieved pages describe different dated scopes. Programme-level language options are more useful than a universal count.
