Use the Boutique product you selected
ARTE Boutique presents films, series and documentaries for individual rental or purchase. That is a different transaction from opening a freely offered ARTE broadcaster programme. The shared ARTE brand does not mean every Boutique title is included in the free service.
Begin with the actual film page and offered access option. A trailer, a catalogue description and a confirmed rental are different stages. Keep the title and chosen version with the account used for an order.
A rental has an availability clock
The Boutique’s licence-help article distinguishes the period an item remains in the video library from the viewing period after first playback. A stored library reference does not prove that the rental remains active indefinitely.
If a deadline matters, use the actual confirmation and current remaining time for the selected film. Do not start a rental only as an incidental test without considering whether that action affects the viewing period.
A licence error can have more than one explanation
The technical help explains that playback requests a licence to decode protected content. An error can concern an expired viewing period or a technical inability to use the required protection. Those are different from an ordinary subtitle selection or a general account name.
Check the transaction state and exact message before changing unrelated settings. Use the genuine supported player and browser guidance. This does not justify disabling protection or finding an unofficial copy of the programme.
Use the supported surface for the actual work
The Boutique help distinguishes browser playback, its supported offline computer player and mobile applications. A route that opens a trailer on one device does not test every requirement for the paid feature elsewhere.
For help, identify the film, rental or purchase, intended device and failure stage. Keep private account and payment information out of public screenshots. This separates a timed transaction, a decoding requirement and the broadcaster’s wider editorial identity without making a universal free-access claim.
