Read subscriber as a free account requirement
BYUtv’s FAQ says the service is free to watch and explains that some licensed programmes and live viewing require signing in. In that context, its subscriber wording points to a free BYUtv account. A locked tile should therefore not automatically send you looking for a paid cable package or an unrelated streaming membership.
Use the official sign-in or account-creation route and reopen the intended programme. Keep the account requirement separate from the content selection itself: a full episode, programme information page and preview can still be different items. Check the actual season and episode rather than assuming a successful login changes the item you opened.
Register the TV with the original account
BYUtv’s device-registration guide offers a QR-code route or a browser visit to byutv.org/register using the code on the television. It then lets viewers create an account or sign into an existing one. Follow the current TV prompt and use the same account when you want existing progress and lists to follow you.
The guide offers either a password or an emailed secure link for sign-in. If you choose the link, complete the message sent to the intended address rather than creating a duplicate account because the TV is waiting. Keep the device code and secure link private, and return to the same television session after completing registration.
Choose the live channel or the exact on-demand item
The official live page lists scheduled programmes with dates, times and episode descriptions. A Watch Live selection joins that scheduled experience, while an episode page identifies a separately selectable programme. Use the current schedule when a particular broadcast is the goal, and check the date rather than relying on an old promotional listing.
BYUtv also offers sports coverage, but a sports show, discussion programme and actual game are different selections. Open the event or programme you intend to see. The presence of a general BYU Sports collection does not establish that a specific fixture, replay or highlight has been selected.
Use the appropriate app benefit and support route
The official apps page identifies a watchlist, reminders and programme downloads, with a free-account qualification on its list and download benefits. Use an actual eligible item and verify that it is stored before disconnecting. A reminder alerts you to a programme; it does not itself create an offline recording.
The FAQ identifies native apps on televisions using Fire TV, Roku TV, Android TV and Google TV, with supported external streaming devices as another route. Identify the TV operating system before searching its store. For a problem, record the device, account-registration stage, programme and whether you chose live, on-demand or downloaded playback.
