Choose the course around the catalogue you need

Fuji Television’s FOD combines subscription viewing, selected free catch-up programmes and separately charged rentals. Its current official course guidance distinguishes Standard, Point MAX and an advertising-supported Light course. The Light course has a narrower Fuji-focused collection, so a lower subscription price should not be read as the same catalogue and features with advertisements added.

Open the exact film, series and episode before selecting a course. The dedicated help says only eligible FOD Premium titles are unlimited-viewing items, and some works require rental payment. A programme appearing in the service therefore does not establish that every course includes it or that the monthly fee pays every transaction.

Do not confuse FOD Premium with FOD Channel for Prime Video

FOD’s help explicitly calls FOD and FOD Channel for Prime Video separate services. The hosted channel does not provide the standalone service’s coins, points, manga, magazines or free-distribution features. It also has its own purchase and support route rather than automatically creating a standalone FOD Premium account.

Check the original receipt before attempting to recover a subscription. If Amazon billed the channel purchase, use the Prime Video offering and its account controls. If you bought FOD Premium directly or through its supported app billing, sign into that FOD account. A shared FOD logo is not evidence that the two accounts are interchangeable.

Check both course and title eligibility for downloads

The official course comparison makes mobile downloads available on Standard and Point MAX, while the advertising-supported Light course does not support them. The specific download help also says free advertising-supported catch-up programmes cannot be downloaded. A free episode that streams successfully is therefore not proof it can be saved for travel.

Use the download control on an eligible title and inspect its actual expiry. FOD’s help gives priority to an earlier programme-distribution or rental deadline and says switching down to the Light course can make previously downloaded items unplayable. A completed local file does not override the current course or the title’s licence.

Use the current FOD account on supported screens in Japan

FOD Premium’s overseas help describes a Japan-only service. Its television sign-in guidance supports entering the FOD account on the TV or using the website-based identification route. Check the current supported device and live-event requirements, since a general on-demand TV route need not establish identical support for every live programme.

If the app asks you to subscribe again, verify the account attached to the existing Premium membership before paying. For cancellation, FOD directs viewers to the method used to subscribe and says deleting the app does not cancel the course. Retain the seller and account information when asking about an entitlement or renewal problem.

Questions answered

Does a FOD Channel for Prime Video subscription provide standalone FOD Premium features?

No. FOD explicitly calls it a separate service and excludes standalone points, manga, magazines and free-distribution features.

Can every free FOD catch-up episode be downloaded?

No. The dedicated download help excludes advertising-supported free catch-up programmes, and the Light course does not support downloads.
