The NET name changes the viewing product
The dedicated publisher page describes Jidaigeki Senmon Channel NET as an Amazon subscription for period drama with live and on-demand viewing. Its FAQ explicitly calls it separate from the CS broadcast service. Both the catalogue and the live programming can differ.
Identify which product your programme recommendation names before choosing a subscription. A satellite or cable schedule is not automatically the NET schedule, and a broadcast feature described on the channel’s support page is not automatically a feature of the hosted stream.
Resolve a subtitle requirement first
The checked NET FAQ says subtitles are not provided. The broadcast FAQ separately discusses caption-marked works and receiver controls. These statements concern different delivery routes; pressing a television’s broadcast subtitle button does not establish a subtitle track in the NET player.
If subtitles are essential, stop at this distinction before buying solely for the NET edition. Check a legitimate alternative offer for the actual work and required language or caption format. Do not treat a title’s Japanese dialogue, an English interface or a subtitle logo on another broadcast listing as proof of an available NET track.
Match the programme as well as the feature
The dedicated page also notes that some works are live-only. A programme name in the service therefore does not prove a convenient on-demand starting point for every episode.
| Question | Documented place to check |
|---|---|
| Which works are available on demand? | The publisher-linked Amazon NET catalogue. |
| What is airing on the NET live feed? | The NET programme schedule. |
| Is a broadcast programme captioned? | The separate broadcast channel’s marked schedule. |
| Does NET have every instalment of a series? | The current NET item; the FAQ says rights windows can prevent complete-series availability. |
Keep an edition-specific viewing note
Record the work, episode, delivery route and required feature together. For a proposed check, compare the actual NET item with the recommendation before the planned viewing time. If the recommendation relied on a broadcast schedule or caption marker, retain that distinction in your note.
This guide uses the publisher’s named NET service; it does not apply those conditions to every period-drama channel or every country. No Amazon account, subtitle track or programme was tested. The useful outcome is an informed edition choice before a purchase, rather than a promise that a similarly named channel behaves identically.
Questions answered
Can I assume broadcast captions also exist in Jidaigeki NET?
No. The checked NET FAQ says subtitles are not provided, while the broadcaster documents captions separately.
Does the NET live schedule match the CS channel?
The publisher says these are separate services with different programming.
