Plus Shochiku: follow film numbers rather than poster order

Build an ordered Shochiku film-series shortlist and preserve remaster labels without assuming the browsing row is a chronology.

A logo is identity evidence

The channel row is a selection of films

The Japanese Plus Shochiku Prime page has dedicated Otoko wa Tsurai yo and Tsuribaka Nisshi collections. The reviewed row places numbered entries out of sequence. It therefore works as a browsing shelf, rather than an instruction to watch the films in the order they happen to appear.

If you want a chronological project, copy each film’s full title and number into your own shortlist before starting. If you prefer one self-contained evening, choose an individual film deliberately. The two purposes need different lists, even within the same collection.

Keep the edition label with the number

Some reviewed Otoko wa Tsurai yo entries identify an HD remaster and the film number in the Japanese title. The page separately lists the first film in its popular section. This makes the detail of the title more useful than a familiar character or similar-looking poster when locating a starting point.

For example, a result labelled 第2作 identifies the second work, while 第6作 identifies the sixth. Keep the remaster suffix beside that number when comparing records. A remaster label does not itself establish a new story, a different film number or the output quality delivered by your device.

Do not substitute an old rental campaign

Shochiku’s own material separately identifies the Plus Shochiku subscription and a past per-film rental promotion that it marks ended. The former campaign is not a current way to price or unlock the subscription library.

Open the actual channel film you selected and read its offered viewing action. A saved list can organise a series, but it does not purchase a film or keep that work available indefinitely. Check the next intended instalment when continuing rather than assume an old campaign or shelf position guarantees it.

Questions answered

Is the channel’s visible film row in series order?

The reviewed row mixes film numbers. Use the numbered title when order matters.

Does an old Shochiku rental promotion establish current channel access?

No. The publisher marks that campaign ended and separately identifies the subscription route.
