Treat the old service as retired
The owner announced Showmax’s discontinuation in March 2026, and DStv’s help gives 30 April 2026 at 23:59 as the end of the service. An old Showmax app reference or promotional card should therefore be read as a legacy record, not a current invitation to buy a new Showmax membership.
Keep the date of an older guide or offer when comparing it with present information. A page remaining visible on the web does not establish that the underlying service is still operating. The announced closure is the important status change.
A programme moving is different from the service continuing
DStv’s Zambia transition information describes selected Showmax titles and Originals moving to DStv Stream. It also makes clear that not every title moves because licensing differs. A familiar work finding another destination does not mean the former Showmax platform remains active.
Use the actual current programme page in the relevant destination. A historical Showmax Original label can help identify a work, but it does not settle the current subscription, territory or episode availability.
Personal history does not automatically follow a programme
The same local transition information states that profiles and watch history do not transfer. These personal records should not be assumed to move simply because a programme does. A replacement subscription, the new programme collection and an old account history are separate matters.
Do not enter old credentials into an unrelated page offering to preserve the history. Use the current official country route for private account questions. A migration claim requires specific provider information rather than a familiar brand image.
Keep local transition information in its local scope
The cited DStv transition page is a Zambia-specific source. Its commercial detail should not be turned into a universal replacement offer for every country or former subscriber. Use the appropriate current DStv information for the account’s actual market.
For an old record, name the former Showmax product, relevant date and the programme or account question. For a present playback problem, name the destination now being used. This preserves the difference between service history, a title’s new home and a current subscription without presenting the closed service as purchasable.
Questions answered
Is Showmax still an active new-subscription offer?
The owner retired the service; DStv gives 30 April 2026 as the end date.
Did every title and viewing profile move to DStv Stream?
No. The Zambia transition page says some titles cannot move and profiles/watch history do not transfer.
