Twenty clubs play a complete home-and-away schedule
EuroLeague’s 2026/27 schedule release confirms twenty clubs and thirty-eight regular-season rounds. Each club plays the nineteen others at home and away. That is a different schedule design from a shared table whose participants face only a selection of opponents.
The arithmetic is nineteen opponents multiplied by two games, giving thirty-eight for one club. Across the league, counting each game once produces 380 regular-season matches. A round number and a team’s games played can still differ if a particular fixture is rearranged.
The table creates two routes into the playoffs
The published season explanation sends the first six teams directly to the playoffs. The next four teams contest the Play-In Showdown for the final two places. Finishing in the Play-In band is therefore not the same as holding a confirmed playoff berth.
During the season these positions remain provisional. A team can move between bands as other results arrive. Use the completed official table and the competition’s tie-break rules for a confirmed finishing position rather than freezing a temporary live ranking.
The quarter-final stage counts games won
The eight playoff clubs form four best-of-five series. A team needs three victories to win such a series; a fourth or fifth game is played only when required. Aggregate points across the games do not decide which club advances.
For a hypothetical sequence, Club A wins the first two games by one point each and loses the next two by twenty. The series is two wins each. Club A is not eliminated on the combined scoring margin; the fifth game decides which side reaches three wins.
The Final Four is another change of format
Four series winners reach the Final Four. The season’s published schedule distinguishes the semifinals from the championship game. The title is not decided by continuing each quarter-final into a further best-of-five series.
A semifinal and a final are separate fixtures with different stakes. Winning a semifinal earns the place in the deciding game; it does not itself award the championship. The familiar Final Four branding refers to the concluding event rather than four additional rounds.
Regular-season meetings are not playoff games
The same clubs can face each other twice in the league and again in a playoff series. Earlier wins contribute to the regular-season record and context, but a new series begins with its own game count.
When reading a result, keep the season, stage and series game number together. A close regular-season win and Game Five of a playoff series are not interchangeable entries, even if both carry the same team logos. Use current official fixtures for dates rather than rebuilding them from a prior season’s calendar.
