Four meetings per opponent explain the regular season

The win2day ICE Hockey League’s 2026/27 game-mode page specifies fourteen teams and fifty-two regular-season games per team. Each side meets the other thirteen four times. This is the league’s own season structure, not the European Champions Hockey League format.

The arithmetic is thirteen opponents multiplied by four, giving fifty-two games. Fourteen such team schedules contain 728 team appearances. Dividing by two teams per game gives the league’s 364 regular-season matches.

The first six and the next four take different routes

Places one to six qualify directly for the quarterfinals. Places seven to ten contest best-of-three Pre-Playoffs for the last two berths. A club in seventh has therefore earned another chance rather than the same direct status as sixth.

In that preliminary stage, seventh chooses whether to face ninth or tenth. Do not assume a fixed seventh-versus-tenth pairing before the choice is made. The published selection establishes the actual tie.

The quarterfinal draw uses opponent selection

The league’s published mode gives the top three teams an opponent pick. Fourth is not selectable and faces the club left after those selections. The bracket therefore cannot always be rebuilt from a simple first-versus-eighth rule.

A table position and an opponent choice are separate records. First establish the completed standings and which teams survived the Pre-Playoffs, then use the official selections to identify the quarterfinals. A prediction of the preferred opponent is not the confirmed pairing.

A series counts victories, not the combined goals

The quarterfinals, semifinals and final use best-of-seven series. Four game wins take the series. A best-of-three Pre-Playoff requires two. Later games are played only when neither side has already reached the required wins.

Consider a hypothetical series with wins of 1–0 and 2–1 for Club A, followed by a 7–0 win for Club B. Club A leads two games to one. Club B’s large scoring margin does not give it seven series wins or overturn the series on aggregate.

Postseason overtime needs the actual game context

The 2026/27 league page distinguishes elimination from non-elimination games in its postseason overtime procedure. This is a reason to check the current stage and series situation rather than importing a regular-season shoot-out assumption.

Use the official game classification and current competition rules for an extended contest. A game may still be live long after regulation, and a provisional future series game can disappear when an earlier result completes the required wins. This guide explains the route without fabricating future participants or kickoff times.
