Keep 2026 and the stage with the replay
The International 2026 is a completed event. Valve’s official announcements distinguish its August group stage from the later Shanghai main event, and its closing post points viewers to the Dota 2 YouTube channel for replays. An old announcement written before the event should now be read as an archive notice.
A search for one pair of teams may return more than one meeting from the same tournament. Keep group stage, elimination round or main event with the recording. A short interview, opening ceremony or championship recap is also different from the complete series, even when the title contains the same tournament name.
A series score counts games, while the Swiss record counts series
Valve’s group-stage notice specifies best-of-three matches between teams with the same overall series record. A fourth series win secured an automatic main-event place; a fourth loss meant elimination. Those series wins are different from the individual game wins displayed inside one best-of-three.
In a hypothetical example, winning a series two games to one adds one series win to a team’s stage record. It does not add two separate series wins. A recording labelled game two can therefore be only one component of the meeting rather than the complete best-of-three contest a viewer intended to watch.
The elimination round filled the remaining main-event places
The group-stage announcement explains that three teams qualified automatically and three were eliminated before the last day. The remaining ten teams contested five elimination series, with each winner taking a main-event place. Three automatic qualifiers plus five elimination winners produced the eight-team field.
This arithmetic is useful when reading an archive bracket: an elimination-round appearance does not mean a team had already reached the arena programme. Preserve that round label when comparing a group record with a later result. A team can have several earlier losses yet still arrive through the explicitly provided qualification route.
The main event and its grand final have their own series context
Valve’s main-event announcement identifies an eight-team double-elimination bracket and a best-of-five grand final. A team dropping into the lower bracket has a different status from one already eliminated. The tournament’s closing account describes a five-game grand final, which is a historical result rather than a guaranteed length for every best-of-five.
For a viewing shortlist, use the official replay route and retain the teams, stage, game number and commentary language. The event’s official stream notices offered multiple language and parallel-stream choices. Stream A or B alone is not a durable match identifier; check the actual series title and whether the recording contains every game you want.
For example, a best-of-five series ending three games to one contains four games. Five describes its maximum length, so a four-game replay can still contain the complete contest.
Questions answered
Does winning two games in a best-of-three add two series wins?
No. It wins one series. The overall stage record counts series results.
Are the August 2026 stream notices a schedule for the next International?
No. They describe the completed 2026 event; keep the year with archive recordings.
