Eighteen clubs play a double round-robin league

The TFF’s 2026/27 Süper Lig statute specifies eighteen clubs and a double round-robin league. A club therefore has seventeen opponents and meets each twice. The two appointments belong to the league programme, even though they reverse which club hosts the match.

Seventeen opponents multiplied by two gives thirty-four league fixtures per club. This explains the thirty-four round selections on the TFF fixture page. It does not make the two meetings one aggregate tie. A league return fixture must be identified by its date and host, rather than treated as the deciding leg of a cup match.

A calendar half and a complete set of first meetings differ

TFF’s season-planning announcement places the winter break after the sixteenth week in December 2026, with week seventeen scheduled after the January restart. The break therefore does not sit neatly after all seventeen first meetings have been completed. The competition’s calendar break and its double-round-robin division answer different questions.

A viewer arranging recordings around the winter pause should keep the actual round number. A programme described casually as the return after the break need not be the second league meeting with that opponent. Check the fixture entry before adding first meeting or return meeting to a recording label.

For example, a saved week-seventeen reminder after the restart is still identifiable by that official round number even if a personal folder has been named second half of the season.

Use Süper Lig’s own season selector and match details

TFF publishes a dedicated Süper Lig fixture and standings page, with season and round choices. Its navigation also offers the first division, national cups and other competitions. Those pages can contain the same club names, so the competition heading is part of identifying the correct match.

On a chosen fixture, keep the date, stated kick-off time and match-detail link alongside both clubs. The season statute says the first-named team is the host, while stadium use remains subject to TFF arrangements. A familiar club’s usual ground is not a substitute for checking the actual listed venue.

The final relegation positions are season-specific

The 2026/27 statute sends the clubs finishing sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth to TFF’s first division. Use that season’s final classification when discussing relegation. An older campaign with a different field or reduction plan should not supply the current boundary merely because the league name is unchanged.

For a live viewing appointment, use Europe/Istanbul for a time actually announced in Turkish local time, and retain the date when converting it to your location. A broadcaster’s pre-match programme may begin before kick-off. Save the match identity and check whether the selected item is live action, a replay or a studio discussion about the round.
